This 54” wide mahogany dining table with six leaves was brought in for repair and refinishing service. Some of the issues the table had were:
- An oxidized finish.
- Muddy color.
- Shrinkage cracks on 4 leaves.
- 2 leaves missing.
- Wobbly base.
- Loose and missing veneer.
Restoration began with re-gluing the loose veneer and replacing pieces that were missing. The base was tightened, and the extension runners were waxed so they would operate easily. The leaves with cracks were repaired, and two new leaves were made to match the set.
The old finish was stripped and the table was sanded, stained, and finished with lacquer. The new finish was then hand rubbed and waxed.
This dining table was refinished for a Millbrook NY client.
